Reducing fatal and serious injury crashes on all of New Jersey’s Public Roads

What is the New Jersey 2025 Strategic Highway Safety Plan?

The New Jersey 2025 Strategic Highway Safety Plan (NJ 2025 SHSP) is a comprehensive five-year plan aimed at reducing fatalities and serious injuries on all public roads in New Jersey, with a focus on strategies offering the greatest opportunity for meaningful safety improvements.

The NJ 2025 SHSP outlines goals, strategies, and actions centered on the “4Es”: Education and Public Awareness, Enforcement, Engineering, and Emergency Response.

Released in August 2020, the NJ 2020 SHSP is now being updated by the project team as they develop the NJ 2025 SHSP, which will be guided by the principles of the Safe System Approach.
